Ashington Community Football Club are supporting the Wansbeck Valley Food Bank in the run up to winter.
At the Colliers home game against Whitley Bay, on Saturday 8th November, there will be a collection of clothing, blankets and non-perishable foods for the Food Bank. The match kicks-off at 3pm. There will be a further collection on Sunday 9th November, from 5pm till 7pm, at the Clubhouse. The Football Club are based on Woodhorn Lane in the town close to Wansbeck General Hospital.
Wansbeck Valley Food Bank is a local charity set up to prevent and relieve poverty or financial hardship. The organisation issues food parcels to individuals in financial hardship who have been referred by one of their many referring professional organisations and individuals. The bags provide food for three days and the group are now supporting the homeless. They are requesting non perishable foods such as pasta, tinned foods, cereals and snack bars as well as blankets, sleeping bags and clothing such as fleeces, jackets, thermals and hats & gloves.
