Volunteer in Ashington Community Woodland

Every Monday from 10am

Ashington Community Woodland is a large woodland on the former Ashington Colliery site.  This fantastic green space covers approximately 135 hectares, lying immediately to the north of the centre of Ashington.

The Friends of Ashington Community Woods contribute to the very important ongoing maintenance and success of the woodland. Volunteers from the group carry out essential woodland management tasks, organise community events and have a good time whilst doing it! The group are supported by Groundwork North East and Northumberland County Council.

Volunteers from the group meet every Monday, at 10am, at the entrance of the woods which is just over the railway line next to Asda and Ashington Police Station. Friends of Ashington Community Woods are always looking for more people to get involved. Whether you have an interest in woodland management and conservation, want to meet new people, get active or spend more time outdoors, you would be a very welcome addition to their team!
