Friends of Ashington Community Woods are giving residents the opportunity to develop woodland skills through providing two workshops in the coming weeks.
Attendees will have the opportunity to make a cracket, willow basket, carve a spoon or make a number of other items using woodland tools. All materials and tools will be provided.
The workshops will take place on Saturday 24th January and Saturday 7th February and run from 10am till 3pm.
Ashington Community Woodland is a large woodland on the former Ashington Colliery site covering approximately 135 hectares. Access to the woodland is by crossing the railway line next to Ashington Police Station. The Friends of Ashington Community Woods group contribute to the very important ongoing improvement, maintenance and success of the woodland. Volunteers from the group carry out essential woodland management tasks and organise community events such as these two workshops.
For more information or to book a place on the workshops call Dennis Turner on: 01670 811 549 or email: email@example.com or visit Friends of Ashington Community Wood’s website at: www.ashingtonwoods.org.uk
